Hans Högman som svarade på min förfrågan om denna soldaten - ”The soldier in your picture is wearing model II of the m/1886 infantry uniform with the three horizontal “buttonholes” on the flap on each cuff.
The photo was taken in Karlshamn in Blekinge province, south of Sweden. Therefore, I believe the regiment of the soldier was the Karlskrona Grenadier Regiment.
This unit was called Småland Grenadier Corps between 1812 and 1902 and between 1902 and 1927 Karlskrona Grenadier Corps.
Karlskrona is located in Blekinge too and is a neighboring town to Karlshamn.
The Karlskrona Grenadier Regiment was garrisoned in the city of Karlskrona (also a major Swedish naval base).
The regiment’s designation was I7 (Infantry regiment 7). Soldiers of rank and file of the Karlskrona Grenadier Regiment, therefore, wore the numeral “7” on their shoulder straps”.
I believe that the picture was taken between 1902 and 1910. The army was issued a new uniform in 1910, the m/1910.
Sweden introduced a universal draft system in 1902, so if the picture was taken between 1902 and 1910 the soldier in the picture was a drafted soldier of rank and file called up for military training.
At the time all young men were called up for registration at the age of 21 and then made their military training the very same year or the following year.
