In 2002, The Federation of Swedish Genealogical Societies launched an online database called "Porträttfynd" (means "portrait treasures"). The purpose of this database is to gather scans of old cabinet prints and cartes-de-visite and save them for the future.

The database also contains any information that the uploader can share about the photograph: the name and place of residence of the photographer, the name of the person in the photograph, etc.

Today there are over 100 000 photographs in the database and new portraits are added every day.

The photographs are sorted according to which Swedish province the photographer resided in.
